Kind words can be brief but their echo goes on forever. ~Anonymous
Cady was the doula at a birth I recently attended, and I cannot say enough about how great it was to have her there!! She had a great instinct for what the woman needed, as well as what wasn’t going to be beneficial. She was very hands-on, even straddling the Jacuzzi tub to massage the woman’s hips. I would highly recommend her as a birth doula. Lynn Chiappelli, CNM Novant Health Nurse Midwifery Associates - Langtree From our initial phone call, Cady was personable and easy to talk to. Our top desires were to not arrive at the hospital prematurely and to have our daughter naturally. While still at home, when i questioned my resolve, Cady's confidence and reassurance helped me stay the course. When contractions intensified, she used her knowledge and natural intuition to help keep me focused, my laboring in perspective and perpetuated the belief that our goals were attainable. It was with a soft, soothing voice and gentle touch that she encouraged and fostered more controlled, grounded breathing. Her calming presence and coaching was a huge asset. She, my husband and myself worked seamlessly as a team. I was thankful to have the extra hand to squeeze and someone to also catch photographic memories of us growing as a family (a bonus ;) ). She has continued to be in touch postpartum, which I appreciate. It was truly a pleasure to have her involved in our journey. I came away with amazement in myself and a humbling sense of pride and accomplishment. Cady's support was instrumental in this. Thank you Miss Cady! -Heather R.
After our initial meeting with Cady, my husband and I both felt comfortable with the idea of her being present during one of the most intimate moments of our lives. I had researched the benefits of having a doula present during birth, and the statistic proof that they minimize cesarian rates and assist in a more natural birth experience (which is what I personally preferred). Being my first pregnancy, I felt Cady's presence and contact put me more at ease with the idea of labor and delivery since it was such uncharted territory. Our meetings and discussions helped me better prepare for the big day both mentally and physically (through practicing labor techniques and positions). As promised, Cady was there every step of the way with her calming presence and caring messages after doctor's appointments. You can tell she is very passionate about birth and the entire process; she was irreplaceable as an unbiased sounding board and always offered words of encouragement. Though my labor progressed much faster than anyone would have ever anticipated, Cady arrived at the hospital by her own judgement (we told her to wait to see if we were admitted before coming) just in time to see our little one make his appearance (a labor lasting less than an hour). Afterwards she made sure we were comfortable/taken care of and assisted in breast feeding before heading home. My husband and I both feel Cady was an integral part of our journey into parenthood and would highly recommend her to anyone expecting! -Katie W.
Having Cady attend our birth was a gift to our whole family. There was not a single moment when she was not fully engaged and present. Her words were calming and her actions practical and reassuring. She checked in with each family member over our six hour delivery. Her knowledge and awareness combined with her compassion and sensitivity make her a natural doula. I highly recommend Cady's services. -Debra A.F.
I met Cady when she was my prenatal yoga instructor as I was pregnant with my second child. What a blessing to have met her! I had a less than desirable labor and delivery experience with my first and I was looking for help to better prepare for and shape the experience of my second. Cady's knowledge and experience in birthing (I believe she called herself a 'birthing junkie' in class one day) made her the easy choice for me and my husband as having a natural childbirth was important to us. Leading up to the birth, our meetings were so helpful and informative and we actually used what we learned during the early stages of labor at home. On the day of delivery, Cady was a rock star. She was the perfect addition in the delivery room as she guided my husband on the best ways to support me, position me, etc.. She was gentle and supportive in everything she did and made our experience - though difficult and painful - and incredible one by continually reminding me that the pain was bringing our daughter closer to us. She was key to our fast and natural delivery. 4 hours of active labor and 2 incredibly hard pushes later, our daughter arrived at 9 pounds 10 ounces. Delivering her unmedicated might be one of my life's greatest accomplishments and I owe it to her :-) I'm so glad I had the opportunity to meet her and share this amazing experience with her! -Julie D.
I found Cady through Baby+Co. I attended her prenatal yoga class throughout my pregnancy and it was perfect for keeping me relaxed nd grounded, as well as teaching me breathing and relaxation skills for labor. I decided to hire her as my doula also, and she was an excellent source of information and support. Unfortunately I went into labor exactly during a conference she had planned, but she was diligent in setting me up with an excellent backup who came to the rescue! - Chelsea H.
Being pregnant is exciting but scary. Well it was for me! Once I started maternity yoga and Cady was the instructor I immediately felt a connection and at peace when I was in class with her. When she offered her doula services I had to hear more!! She is absolutely amazing and went above and beyond my expectations. If it wasn't for her and my husbands team work I wouldn't have made it through labor and delivery. These two together made it possible for me to deliver natural and stick to our birth plan. If you're looking for a doula I highly recommend Cady!! - Brooke M.
I knew Cady from her teaching prenatal yoga and was so excited to have her support our family during the birth of our third child as our doula. With our previous two births we had no outside support in a traditional hospital setting for baby #1 and baby #2 saw me laboring for 3 hours in triage with the assistance of a backup doula. Having Cady there with us for baby #3's birth was simply amazing - this birth experience was totally different from the first two. She was a calm, grounding presence that allowed my husband to be present to support me as well as providing the right comfort measures to allow me to focus on what I needed to do. My midwife was so impressed with Cady that she said she would recommend her to her future patients! My husband and I highly recommend Cady to anyone looking for birth support via a doula. -Emily S.
Hiring Cady was an investment in my marriage. Of course it is was also an investment in my child's birth, and my own well-being -- but those were givens. Neither my husband, nor I were "baby-people" or knew anything about giving birth. We are corporate-types who love hiking, sports, DIY-stuff, dogs-- the usual... this pregnancy and child-birth thing was all new to us. Cady walked us through what to expect with labor, and how we should prepare for labor, and our time at the hospital. She was our go-to when "signs" began. She saved us the 8-some-odd-hour labor class at the hospital (which sounded appealing to no one really)... but her real value -- and this is where she was truly amazing -- was her flexibility. She was able to adjust, support, comfort and guide in situations that could not be anticipated or expected. She did/said/supported in calming and confident ways throughout -- which was AWESOME. I could not think at that point, my body was doing things that were unfamiliar to me and my husband -- and instead of being alarmed, concerned, scared -- we could be the happy-side of those emotions (although there was still physical pain for me ;) ) -- because Cady was there with guidance and reassurance. That is key about Cady -- she was positive, calm, and provided reassurance and guidance (not to mention pain-reducing techniques!) throughout my birth experience. While she helped me physically labor and move-through the pain of a natural childbirth, she helped my husband feel comfortable in an unfamiliar situation that could otherwise have been anxiety-provoking. Cady's guidance helped me and my husband work together to bring our baby into this world, vs. me working by myself, or with her alone. She taught us techniques before birth and prompted us in the moment to use them. She coached my husband on how to best help me during labor, and she provided the expertise, focus and attention to me that I needed to get through. I had a great team of providers (midwife, nurse etc), but having Cady there to focus exclusively on me and my husband was invaluable. Cady was a constant comforting presence, helping me breathe through contractions, providing counter-pressure, or showing my husband how to support me. My husband did not feel out of place, awkward or useless -- because Cady was there to show him where/when/how to help. And that freed me to not worry about him, or the "outside world," and to focus on bringing my baby into the world. In turn, my husband was able not to worry about me (unnecessarily) and to transfer his excitement from anxiety to productive activity. I highly recommend Cady as a doula -- and I would recommend to any pregnant woman to strongly consider hiring a doula. Cady enabled me to navigate my birth experience -- and I am confident that she can handle any birth situation with calm, composure and grace -- to help you and your family move through labor (of any type). Yes, Cady is an investment -- in your birth experience, your baby, your partner/husband, and your life. - Kristin W.
